The Joliet Catholic girls volleyball team played well throughout Thursday night’s Class 3A Washington Sectional championship match against the host Panthers. But the hosts used strong finishes in both sets to record a 25-21, 25-17 victory over the Angels and advance to Monday’s La Salle-Peru Supersectional.“Our serving and defense were really good tonight, but we really struggled offensively and that’s a credit to the defense Washington had at the net,” Joliet Catholic first-year coach Eric Tripp said, his squad finishing the season at 22-16. “There were times where our hitters really didn’t have anywhere to hit the ball. All that said I thought our girls did a great job of continuing to attack.“The program had seven wins last year and this year we finished with 22. That’s credit to my players; they really worked on getting better every day. We really improved from Day 1 and while we’ll loss some key players I feel like we have girls coming back that can and want to get back this point
