Green, Pink Line Train Service Restored Downtown After Shutdown — Rockford Business news

DOWNTOWN — After weeks of limited or no service in the Loop, Green and Pink Line train service is back to normal — but future closures are expected this spring. The Chicago Department of Transportation said it restored service at 4 a.m. Thursday after crews finished installing a new leaf for the 110 year-old Lake Street Bascule Bridge, which is undergoing a complete rehab of both of its levels. Since Oct. 13, Green Line trains had not run between Clinton and Clark/Lake and Pink Line trains did not operate in the Loop. Service was supposed to be restarted Monday but that was delayed due to ongoing bridge work. In addition to installing the leaf, other work included aligning and stabilizing the new components; rebuilding CTA tracks, ties, guard systems and walkways; reconnecting and testing power and signal systems; and operating test trains, the CTA said in a press release. But more headaches are on the way. Another leaf will be installed this spring, so similar shutdowns
