HYDE PARK — A Bridgeport hotspot for unique, scratch-made bakery items will begin its expansion into Hyde Park this weekend as its owners prepare for a full launch next week. Fat Peach Bakeshop, 1613 E. 53rd St. in Hyde Park, held its soft opening Friday. The location marks the first expansion for Fat Peach, a Bridgeport bakery that quickly became popular for its mix of classic and creative pastries and croissants after opening two years ago. The Hyde Park location s menu is still being finalized, but will feature Bridgeport favorites like a guava custard danish; a breakfast pastry with hashbrowns, ham, cheese and ketchup; and cinnamon rolls with a raspberry glaze and espresso cream cheese frosting. We really like the South Side and think it’s sometimes underrated, co-owner Kerrie Breuer said Thursday. This was a natural place for us [to expand].
